I’ve created websites on Raspberry Pis in the past, and I’d thought about creating one on a cloud hosting site, but I hadn’t done it because I didn’t want to pay for the hosting!!! SO, when I heard about Oracle’s free tier, I thought I better give it a try, and then I can learn a bit about using hosting services.

The biggest problem was creating the Oracle account. The sign-up process was an absolute nightmare. It just kept failing time and time again. I don’t know how such a large company can make such a bad sign-up process. Eventually I got it to work.

Creating the VM wasn’t too bad, as I followed a YouTube video by Tony Teaches Tech . But all the settings look quite confusing and complicated if you don’t know what you are doing, or you are not following someone’s instructions. I don’t know how you are supposed to work it out if you are a complete beginner.

Originally, I intended to follow Tony Teaches Tech’s instructions and create the website with Wordpress. I got Wordpress installed, but it seemed very complicated to use, and viewing the website from my browser, it seemed a bit slow to load. I don’t know if that was my problem, or if the Oracle free tier isn’t really powerful enough to run Wordpress well.

I decided to uninstall Wordpress and php, and just create a simple website myself with html code. It’s more lightweight, and seems to load faster in a browser.

When I was setting up my Oracle VM, I wanted to make sure it was going to run a website alright, so I wanted to create or upload an index.html file. I had a quick look on my Mac and found an old website that I created many years ago.

I created it to run on an original Raspberry Pi 1, which came out in 2012. Apple’s website at that time included a menu bar with a curved glossy kind of look. I copied that for my old website, and decided to do the same for this one.

So I’ve decided to go for a bit of a retro design for this website.

Raspberry Pis are great, apart from their recent price hike due to the AI boom.

I have one running a website MilkTea888.com , and another one running OpenClaw.

Pi-Hole might be my next Pi project.

I've played around with AI. I've installed OpenClaw on a Raspberry Pi. I've run models locally on my Mac with Ollama.

It's very interesting, and rapidly developing.

I might post something about doing jobs on my car.

I'm not sure yet. I don't know what it could be.

I may buy a 3D printer, so I'll probably post something about it here.

I've been interested in 3D printing since they first became available as a consumer product, several years ago. But it's only in the last year or two that they've become good enough to buy.

I'm thinking of a Bamboo Lab X2D.
